Aquino for prez? Think carefully.
Should the future of the Philippines be dictated by emotions?
I hope not.
When I read about Noynoy Aquino thinking of possibly seeking the presidency, at first I thought it would be a welcome change to Philippine politics, maybe morals will be restored in a position where administration after administration corruption charges and dishonesty prevailed.
But the optimism I had is now shrouded by doubts.
He is part of a political dynasty, a "trapo", which we are always told not to vote for. What makes this man different from all the other sons, daughters, wives and whatnots of other political families? Should we trust him just because his mom and dad are national heroes? I am sure he is as qualified as other people seeking the highest office in the land (which says a lot, by the way) but should we vote for him just for those reasons alone?
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against him. I have no idea what his political ideologies are. But the mere fact that the media and others are urging him to run for office, just moments after the death of his mother, seems like they are using the death of his mother as to further his political ambitions.
I hope that Filipinos will vote next year to put someone in the presidency because they believe in his/her political platform, ideas and vision for the future of the country and not because of name or fame. He could still be the best candidate out there, or maybe not. Use your head, not your heart.

Is that a woodpecker or are you just happy to see me?
Saw this woodpecker just pecking away loudly in our backyard. Further research (by means of Google) revealed that this is a Pileated Woodpecker, the type of woodpecker Woody (Woodpecker) is based on.
Honestly, I don't see the similarities.

Lucky Waiter
Imagine how much tip the waiter (or waiters) for PGMA's party got for the almost $20,000 dinner they had in NYC. If they gave a standard 15-20% tip for the dinner, it means that the waiter got between $3,000 to $4000 tip - not bad for a night's work. Even if 3-4 people waited for them, that's still about a grand each!

(500) Days of Life
After almost two years of Multiplying, Facebooking and Twittering, it's time to resurrect blogging again.
A lot of stuff happened these past two years. Matthew is now a talking, screaming, running, (still) bed wetting 3 and a half year old toddler. He knows how to play Solitaire, Freecell and Mahjongg on the computer, loves the iPhone, plays PSP, likes Spongebob, Thomas the Train, Simpsons and Family Guy - not age appropriate, I know.
He knows how to operate the television (with the A/V receiver, DVD player and PS3), knows the dialogue to Mamma Mia by heart (and sings along too!) and calls Dory Nemo's mommy (how can you explain to him otherwise?)
