How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Dishwasher

You gotta love technology.

Coming from Manila and used to washing dishes, utensils and glasses manually, the dishwasher is an appliance that I thought I would never use - an unnecessary luxury. Well, we didn't use one (even though our previous and current apartment has one) for the first year that we were here. I would labor every night washing the dishes with a sponge and liquid dish detergent.

The one time I tried using the dishwasher last year, I used the liquid dish detergent. I thought, "What's the worse that could happen". Well, I found out soon enough, bubbles (and water) started emanating from it and I had to scoop the water (and the bubbles) up for more than an hour.

How would I know that dishwashers use a separate type of detergent?

And thank God, now I learned how to use the dishwasher. It is heaven sent. You just leave dirty dishes in it and after an hour, viola! Clean dishes!!! Dry dishes!!! It's like magic!!!

I know it is mababaw but I am really estatic about it. Nothing can compare to the happiness of knowing that you have one less chore to do.

Now if only there's an appliance which can clear the table...
